Golf

The Royal Malta Golf Club at Marsa, founded in 1888, has the only golf course on the islands — 18 holes, part of the wider Marsa sports complex.

On the water

  • Sailing — clubs, schools and regattas, including the Rolex Middle Sea Race from the Grand Harbour.
  • Diving — reefs, caves and wrecks around Malta and Gozo.
  • Kayaking, paddleboarding, swimming — most of the year.
  • Water polo — a summer passion with local clubs.

On land

Football is followed passionately; there are running and cycling groups, tennis and padel courts, and gyms across the islands. Walking and hiking are excellent in the cooler months — see hiking and walks.
